Become Your OWN Star

The world is spending more time than ever reading, watching and listening to content online. Whether it’s through Youtube, Snapchat, Facebook or Instagram, it’s hard to deny that content consumption has become an integral part of our daily lives.

But why only watch, when you can also create?  Each of us are full of creativity, imagination and talent waiting to be unleashed.  Technology gives us access to so many tools that can help us to bring those visions to life, our imagination into reality, and express our talents to the world.

That’s why we’re launching OWN Media, Asia’s first online media channel produced by students for students.  We want OWN Media to serve as a unique platform for students to have the freedom to uncover their passions and interests, learn to create meaningful content, and share their productions with other students and the world at large.

And we’re inviting all students to become their OWN star by joining OWN Media’s Production Team.

What is OWN Media / OWN Media Production Team?

OWN Media is an Asia-focused online media channel featuring content created by students for other students.

Students who join the OWN Media Production Team will be given the ability to produce entertaining, meaningful and high production quality content, to be shared and hosted on the OWN Media channel.  They may even have the opportunity to work with Cartoon Network in Singapore, or OWN Media’s own clients in the community.

Who is it for?

Whether your child is an entrepreneur in training, a budding foodie, an undiscovered math genius or general all-round superstar, becoming part of our Production Team can help them to explore their interests and develop their talent.  OWN Media uses OWN Academy’s ExCCEL (Exposure, Consciousness, Creativity, Entrepreneurship, Learn to Learn) philosophy to inspire everyone to thrive in their own unique way. Being part of the our Production Team is a special way for students to experiment, learn, have fun, and build a voice of their own.

OWN Media’s collaboration with Cartoon Network Singapore

Cartoon Network are proud supporters of OWN Academy’s vision of helping students gain 21st Century skills, and OWN Media’s objective of helping students become the next generation of creators.  In support of that vision, Cartoon Network are partnering with OWN Media to provide selected students with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Outstanding Production Team members will have the opportunity to work with Cartoon Network Singapore to create a promotional video for one of the network’s hit series and be seen by 19 million people! Chosen students will work alongside a world-class media production team, supervised by expert network professionals, on a piece that will be televised and reach millions of viewers across Asia.  More details in relation to this opportunity will be provided at a later stage.

What do students do as part of the Production Team?

Students run the show at OWN Media: each of them plays a critical role in bringing content to life.  They’re involved in every aspect of the content production process, from research to story creation, filmmaking and post-production, and copywriting to strategy, all within a environment that values individuality and teamwork.

What will students learn in the process, and what’s OWN’s approach to learning?

Joining the OWN Media Production Team is the perfect way for students to explore their interests and develop their talent in a nurturing, creative and fun environment.

Students that are part of the OWN Media Production Team will gain first hand working experience as part of a media production group, but they will also develop broader skills, such as:

  • Learning how to effectively communicate
  • Learning how to problem solve
  • Learning how to work with others and lead in a collaborative environment

We approach learning as coaches instead of teachers. Rather than giving students all the answers, OWN coaches will be leveraging the use of technology, teamwork and OWN’s expert network of media professionals to learn in the 21st Century manner.  OWN Media uses OWN Academy’s ExCCEL (Exposure, Consciousness, Creativity, Entrepreneurship, Learn to Learn) philosophy to inspire everyone to thrive in their own unique way.
