OWN Global Inventor Winter Camp with 3D Printing

$4,000.00

Be a Global Inventor this Christmas! OWN Academy partners with Level Up Village from the United States to bring you our first STEAM (STEM + Arts) program. Learn STEAM the 21st Century way through project-based learning as well as cultural exchanges with student collaborators from the US.

Level Up Village (LUV) delivers pioneering Global STEAM enrichment courses that promote design thinking and one-to-one collaboration on real-world problems between K-9 students at more than 300 schools in the U.S. and over 40 Global Partner organizations in 20+ countries

Our students will be paired with students in the United States. Students will interact with their Global Partners throughout the course via project collaboration and the exchange of video messages using Level Up Village’s Global Collaboration Platform – an easy-to-use and secure portal. These guided interactions allow students to share their findings, learn about each other’s lives and discuss the real-life application of their learning. The result is meaningful global collaboration and an enhanced understanding of the world.

Join us on an adventure to transform the world as we know it!  Students in this class will learn about the power of 3D printing, one of the most innovative technologies of our time to engineer solutions to real-world issues. In this exciting course, they learn how to use Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to create and modify a series of designs.  The final project is to work together with their global partners to create and 3D print a solar-powered light source, all while exchanging video messages about their projects and daily life in each of their countries.

Globalizing Your Classroom with Level Up Village

Level Up Village’s mission is to globalize the classroom and facilitate seamless collaboration between students from around the world via pioneering Global STEAM (STEM + Arts) enrichment courses. Using Level Up Village’s global communications platform, students get to know partner students in other countries by exchanging video messages about their lives and their STEAM projects.  Through this process, they not only learn 21st century skills, but also develop empathy and global competency.

Level Up Village is the first organization to receive the ISTE Seal of Alignment at the Proficiency Level for the 2016 ISTE Standards for Students. LUV’s pioneering global STEAM courses also align with NGSS and Common Core standards and UN Sustainable Development Goals.

How do students collaborate with their Global Partners?

Students at schools in the U.S., Australia and the U.K. are paired individually or group to group (for K-2) with students taking the same course at one of LUV’s fully vetted and trained Global Partner organizations across Asia, Latin America, Africa and the Middle East.  Through a combination of guided discussion, hands-on activities and interactive media, students identify an issue and apply design thinking to solve a real-world problem.  Students interact with their Global Partners via our global communication platform by exchanging video messages, collaborating on shared project files and creating personal profiles. In these ways, students not only work together on projects, but also discuss the real-life application of their learning and learn about each other’s daily lives and cultures. The result is meaningful global collaboration and an enhanced understanding of the world.

How does LUV’s platform work?

Accessible via computer, tablet and mobile devices, LUV’s easy-to-use global communication platform facilitates one-on-one project collaboration and cultural exchange between students from around the world. Students access LUV’s Communications Platform via the Student Portal.  Once they log in, they can easily view course content, access student workbooks, record and upload video messages, view their global partner’s video messages, create and add to their personal profiles and collaborate on shared project files.  Teachers access the platform via the Teacher Portal where they can access curricular resources, review and upload students’ video messages and monitor students’ project collaboration.
